GPS Directs DRiver To Police Station

5/27/2015

A Bensalem man and Middlesex County New Jersey man were driving to the Hilton Garden Inn in PA. They thought their GPS was navigating them there. It turns out the GPS decided to take them to the Upper Dublin Police Station instead. The individuals were driving impaired and pull into the police station as officers were outside. The officers approached them and said, "why are you here? This is a restricted area." The officers smelled alcohol and performed a field sobriety test.

I guess this means your GPS is not always on your side!

Be Careful Where You Leave Your Pizza Crust!

5/21/2015

Police searched a Maryland home recently during their investigation into a murder inside a mansion. The police sifted through the trash and found pizza crust they are testing for DNA. The lead suspect is accused of setting fire to the mansion, killing four people. An arrest warrant was issued for the man. Police say DNA found on the pizza crust that was delivered to the mansion that night link the man to the home and crime.

A lot of cases seem to pop up where the police use DNA from food, drink or even bathroom visits inside a home. I still can't wrap my head around why someone committing a crime and breaking into a home would stop for a bite to eat or nap inside the home.

Police Refuse To Check Alibi Of Robbery Suspect; Man Clears Own Name

5/12/2015

A New York man was gambling in Atlantic City at the same time another man was being robbed in New York. The victim told the police it was the man in Atlantic City. The problem is that it was not. The police contacted the man to discuss the robbery and he told the police it wasn't him and he was in Atlantic City, but the police said it wasn't their job to check the man's alibi. He was told to turn himself in for an arrest. The man contacted the newspaper who made a ruckus, causing the police to then investigate and obtain security video footage from Atlantic City and clear the man's name. Now the search is on for the real suspect.

It is a shame that one can just point a finger at another and there is nothing you can do sometimes. Kudos to this man for not putting up with crap.

Couple Told To Register As Sex Offender Due To Sex On Beach

5/11/2015

A couple in Florida were enjoying their time on a beach when passion took over. Witnesses saw them "engaging in some kind of sexual maneuvering" and called the police. They were arrested and put on trial for "lewd and lascivious exhibition", which is a felony in Florida. After being convicted last week, they both have to register as a sex offender and face jail time.

Sure, this was wrong. They shouldn't have sex on the beach where children or others are forced to witness. However, they should not face jail for this. The woman faces jail time due to the charge. However, the man faces an increased jail time of up to 15 years in prison because he has a prior drug conviction. This is yet another example of our insane legal system. A burglar may get five years in jail, but having sex on the beach could result in 15 years in jail.

Mom Has 10 Year Old Arrested For Bad Behavior

5/4/2015

What do you do when your old year old son won't listen to you? Well, if you are one Georgia mom, you have the police arrest your son, handcuffs and all, to scare him. This Georgia mom said her son was acting out at school and disrespecting his teacher. He refused to do his homework. Mom had enough. She called the cops who arranged an arrest simulation to show the child where he was headed with this bad behavior. the police arrived, cuffed the child and put him in the back of the squad car for a few minutes.

Many parents reading this article have lashed out, stating they would never do such a thing. I see both sides for what they are. On one hand, it is an awful thing to do to such a young child. However, kids are growing up faster and faster now a days. News articles glamorize shooting. Reports show 14 year olds committing robbery and burglary. This mom did what she thought she had to do to scare her son straight.

I remember a time where the local police would allow a group of kids to go sit in the jail as a scared straight tactic in Philadelphia. They don't really do that any more. Maybe that is one of the many reasons for such problems with young child now.
